About Upoma Guha
Upoma Guha, B.D.S., M.S., is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the University of Florida College of Dentistry within the Department of Restorative Dental Sciences – Division of Operative Dentistry. Previously, she was on faculty at the University at Buffalo (The State University of New York) where she spent three years as a Clinical Assistant Professor. Dr. Guha has been engaged in pre-clinical and clinical teaching of the operative dentistry courses to the DDS students. During her tenure at University at Buffalo, she has introduced the modern digital technology in the pre-clinical operative dentistry courses. Besides, Dr. Guha enjoys mentoring students in research related to dental erosion and implication of digital technology in operative dentistry education, and dental biomaterials.
Dr. Guha earned her dental degree from the University of Dhaka in Dhaka, Bangladesh, in 2009. She practiced general dentistry from 2009 to 2010 at the Bangladesh Dental College and Hospital before moving to USA. Dr. Guha completed a three-year residency in Operative Dentistry from the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill and received a Master of Science and a Clinical Certificate in Operative Dentistry in 2015. At UNC, her experience as a graduate teaching assistant shaped the teaching philosophy and passion for the academia. She received the ‘Best Teaching Assistant Award’ from the DDS students of UNC in 2013.
In addition to her primary focus of teaching the predoctoral and operative master’s students, Dr. Guha is involved in caring for patients in the college’s UF Health Faculty Practice.
