Periodontics

The Advanced Education Program in Periodontics offers a 36-month program that leads to a certificate and a Master of Science in Dental Sciences with a specialization in periodontics. The program has 12 full-time residents enrolled in the program.

The program’s primary clinical portion takes place in the Department of Periodontics clinic. The clinic is equipped with five surgical suites and eight non-surgical operatories to ensure our patients have quality care and our residents are offered the best learning environment possible.

The residents cover clinics for predoctoral dental students. During this time, the residents are responsible for reviewing treatment plans with the students and assisting them with clinical procedures related to periodontics.

The didactic component focuses on a basic science core provided by the college. Frequent case presentations, treatment planning seminars, and literature reviews are utilized to provide evidence-based knowledge instruction in the specialty.
