IT Profile: Rosa McDavid

Rosa McDavidRosa is the longest-serving member of the college’s IT Department, having joined the college in 1978 before the acronym “IT” meant Information Technology. Rosa was born close by in Orange Lake, Florida, to a large family; she had seven sisters and four brothers.

She spent her days using an IBM typewriter to type charges and cash receipts for the college. Later she worked on a “little Mac” to input information and the printouts were from IBM machines.

She’s worked for four IT Directors and with countless coworkers and says, “The group I work with now is the best bunch. Everyone gets along great, we have a lot of fun together and Steve is a great director.”

Rosa has two sons, Sharod and Ronald; one daughter, Thomasenia; one grandson, Shadyn; and one Labrador retriever, Fluffy. She’s a Tampa Bay Bucs fan.

What is your favorite way to spend your time?
Watching football on Sunday afternoon.

What do you most value in your friends?
Honest and reliable.

What would you like to be?
A size 4. (go figure)

Where would you like to live?
Right where I am now; I am a country girl at heart.

Good for now, check back in 5 months when I turn 50.

My grandson, Shadyn.
