Project Updates & Wayfinding

Navigating our Transformation

This webpage is a resource for the UF Academic Health Center community, a place for patients, faculty, staff students, residents and visitors for information regarding our ongoing Dental Science Building Project.

Access & Safety

Construction fencing remains in place around portions of the current Dental Science building and the West Entrance parking lot. The service drive along Archer Road is not accessible because it’s within the construction zone. Please use designated alternative routes and observe all posted signage.

Aerial view construction logistical plan for UF-318B DSB envelope repair showing the building layout with color-coded zones and equipment placement. The plan includes orange scaffolding areas along the building perimeter, a red fire exit and egress route, green site fence and gate markings, orange construction traffic arrows, and yellow diagonal-striped construction zones at ground level. Key equipment labeled includes scaffolding on the upper levels, a stair tower and buck hoist on the building's side, and an office area marked in green at the bottom right. The image shows the building surrounded by parking lots, trees, and adjacent structures in an aerial satellite view format.

Noise & Disruptions

Brick removal during Phase 1 involves concrete saws and tools that produce shearing and grating noises. These sounds may reverberate within the building. We appreciate your patience as we complete this essential phase.

Milestone: Building Addition Occupancy

A pivotal moment in the project. Faculty, staff, students and residents will begin moving into new space in the building addition, activating the spaces designed to shape the future of dental education.

The view looks down a long, central walkway with a blue floor, flanked by rows of modern, semi-private dental operatories. The operatories feature white and wood-toned cabinetry, grey and translucent blue partitions, and are equipped with dental chairs and computer stations.

Existing Space Renovation

Following the occupancy of the building addition, a phased renovation of the original Dental Science building will begin. This final phase will focus on modernizing key learning and clinical spaces. As philanthropic support is essential to realizing the full potential of this work, the renovation will proceed in stages as funding allows.

Watching Our Progress

Throughout this multi-year project, UF’s Business and Technical Services (BATS) will fly a drone to capture regular aerial footage of the construction site, documenting our transformation from above. We will share photo galleries and video updates here along the way so that you can have a bird’s eye view of the wonderful progress unfolding.
