U Matter, We Care

U Matter, We Care extends UF’s caring culture by educating our community about signs and symptoms of distress and provides students and employees in distress with the appropriate resources. U Matter, We Care is an umbrella for care-related programs and resources for students and employees. The initiative includes programming to train individuals to recognize the signs of distress and to provide help. It also includes a website of care-related resources, as well as a centralized phone number (352-294-CARE) and email address (umatter@ufl.edu) for those seeking help or wanting to help others. There are dedicated staff members working hard to ensure that Every Gator Counts.


Counseling & Wellness Center (CWC)

The Counseling & Wellness Center serves to facilitate the total development of students by reducing psychological problems and distress and by enhancing mental health, well-being, quality of life, and optimal functioning, through the delivery of high quality, culturally sensitive services to UF students and the larger campus community. The CWC’s primary focus is on providing brief, confidential counseling aimed at helping students succeed academically and interpersonally. Students interested in receiving services at CWC should call 352-392-1575 (M-F, 8am-5pm) to schedule a consultation appointment. Office of Victim Services (OVS)

The University of Florida Police Department’s Office of Victim Services provides support for anyone who may be a victim of a crime while on the University of Florida campus. A victim advocate is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide support for victims of actual or threatened violence. All services are free and confidential. Victims may use the services of an advocate even if they decide to not officially report the crime to a law enforcement agency. Those wanting to speak to a victim advocate should call 352-392-1111 or email ovs@mail.ufl.edu.


Student Health Care Center (SHCC)

Whether you have a chronic illness or an acute injury, the UF Student Health Care Center offers a wide variety of health and wellness services to keep students at their best. As experts in the college health field, the clinical staff strive to help students understand common ailments while also providing treatment options including referrals to most UF Health specialists if needed. A medical provider is available after hours to assist students with urgent health concerns. Please call 352-392-1161 and ask to speak with the on-call provider. To schedule a regular appointment, call 352-392-1161 during normal business hours (M-F, 8am-5pm). With the exception of urgent concerns, we ask that you call first so we can find the most convenient appointment time to fit your schedule and reduce wait times upon arrival. If you have a medical emergency, please call 911 or go directly to the emergency room.

The Health Compliance Office within SHCC was created to assist students in their health insurance and immunization needs. Students with questions regarding UF’s mandatory health insurance and immunization requirements should call 352-294-2925 or email healthcompliance@shcc.ufl.edu.


Hitchcock Field & Fork Pantry

The Hitchcock Field & Fork Pantry, located near Marston Science Library, is intended to assist members of the UF campus community who experience food insecurity. Guests of The Pantry are not required to verify income or need but are asked to bring their physical Gator 1 Card when visiting. All campus community members are welcome to use The Pantry whether they have a chronic need for food or only have a temporary need. Offerings include basic staples, bread, and frozen meats, as well as fresh seasonal produce from the Field & Fork Farm and Gardens.


RecSports

The Department of Recreational Sports offers experiences that enrich the lives of the University of Florida community through excellence in facilities, fitness, sport, adventure and play. Offering a wide variety of facilities, services, and programs, RecSports is committed to advancing student success, developing leaders, and encouraging lifelong wellness. It’s time to Live in Motion!


GatorWell

GatorWell Health Promotion Services applies health promotion strategies to educate UF students on health and wellness topics relevant to the college experience. Their mission is empowering UF students to be healthy and well through prevention. Free to currently enrolled UF students, GatorWell offers confidential individual appointments, group workshops, as well as comprehensive programming and outreach on various health topics including stress reduction, healthy eating, sexual health, sleep, time management, alcohol and other drugs, and interpersonal violence prevention. Students interested in scheduling an appointment can do so by calling 352-273-4450, emailing gatorwell@ufl.edu, or by submitting a request online.


Disability Resource Center (DRC)

The Disability Resource Center works to address access barriers by working with students with disabilities and connecting them with support services and coordinating academic accommodations. Furthermore, the DRC strives to foster a sense of empowerment in students with disabilities by educating them about their legal rights and responsibilities so that they can make informed choices, by encouraging them to engage in critical thinking and self-advocacy, and by supporting them in being successful students, campus leaders, and positive contributors to the campus community. DMD students with disabilities who are interested in registering with the DRC to receive academic accommodations should review the UFCD Accommodated Testing Process.


Office of Black Student Engagement & Institute of Black Culture (IBC)

The Office of Black Student Engagement promotes and affirms Black culture, history, leadership, and scholarship. Black Student Engagement coordinates a variety of cultural, social, and educational programs focused on the Black experience at the University of Florida, in the United States, and across the African diaspora. The Institute of Black Culture functions as a resource for individual Black students, student organizations, the University of Florida, and the surrounding community.



Office of LGBTQ+ Student Engagement

The Office of LGBTQ+ Student Engagement strives to educate, advocate, and support LGBTQ+ people and issues at the University of Florida and in the Gainesville community. Through student-centered programming, outreach, community building and advocacy, we are committed to creating a safe and developmentally supportive and affirming campus-community for students, staff, faculty, and alumni of all sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions.


Office of Asian Pacific Islander Desi Student Engagement

The Office of Asian Pacific Islander Desi Student Engagement aims to promote awareness of APID issues throughout the UF community, advocate for the needs of APID students, and assist in the personal development of students by providing services and resources in the following four areas: Leadership Development, Educational Programming, Advocacy for Asian American studies, and an Alumni/Student Mentoring network.


Collegiate Veterans Success Center (CVSC)

The Collegiate Veterans Success Center supports UF student veterans, service members, and family members of veterans by providing a designated space on campus for those who have served to study, meet with on and off-campus resources, and spend time with and support each other in a fun and relaxing atmosphere. The Collegiate Veterans Success Center is accessible to all students, creating a diverse care area that supports the success of UF veterans.


Career Connections Center (C3)

The Career Connections Center is a centralized, comprehensive resource serving all UF students and alumni. The C3 provides a diverse range of services including helping connect job seekers with employers and offering students individualized career education and guidance to enrich their collegiate experience and prepare them for life after graduation. This is where Gators bridge the gap between inspiration and action, and where employers are linked to the best talent entering the work force.

The Molm Family Gator Career Closet, located in the C3, serves as a lending closet for students to borrow professional clothing and accessories free of charge. This service is available to all UF students with a valid UF ID.


Off Campus Life

Off Campus Life is committed to educating and assisting UF students to achieve a positive off-campus living experience. Through OCL’s resources, services, education, and support Off Campus Life fosters leadership and civic engagement to develop great gator neighbors in Gainesville and throughout the Gator Nation.


Student Legal Services

Student Legal Services offers free legal counsel and advice to all eligible UF students and student organizations. They provide representation for a number of cases to assist students/student organizations in the world of the legal field. They empower students to make positive choices in their personal, academic, and professional lives, optimizing their university experience and preparing them to become leaders in the global community.


Alachua County Legal Aid & Pro Bono Services

Alachua County Legal Aid & Pro Bono Services provides a comprehensive list of free and low-cost legal clinics, legal counsel, and pro bono attorneys to support students in a variety of areas such as divorce, civil rights injustices, family and juvenile law, bankruptcy, domestic violence support, elder care, employment law, immigration services, and even support for criminal cases.

The University of Florida College of Law offers two free clinics – the Virgil D. Hawkins Civil Legal Clinic and the Gator Team Juvenile Advocacy Clinic.


J. Wayne Reitz Union

The J. Wayne Reitz Student Union offers a number of activities and services for students from the Arts & Crafts Center, Barber Shop, and restaurants and shopping, to the Game Room, Reitz Union Hotel, Art Gallery, and a plethora of events such as guest performances, advanced movie screenings, and so much more. The mission of the J. Wayne Reitz Union is to enhance the student experience and enrich the campus community by providing dynamic learning opportunities, premier programs, quality services, and outstanding facilities for students and the university community.


Regional Transit System

University of Florida students, faculty, and staff may ride Regional Transit System public transportation for free by presenting their Gator 1 Card. RTS offers multiple bus routes on campus with service to every area of the University, as well as routes to all points of the City of Gainesville. The GNV Ride RTS tool allows anyone to track buses through the use of GPS technology.
