BSAG serves UFCD students by providing a space where Black students can thrive and shine.
1. Create a safe space for Black students to thrive and feel validated
2. Provide opportunities for fellowship, camaraderie and mentorship
3. Advocate for more Black representation in both the UFCD student and faculty population
4. Uplift and amplify the voices of current Black dental students.
To support black dental students during their time at UFCD through mentorship, professional development, fellowship, and community service. Our organization has a great interest in increasing diversity within the field of dentistry.
Established in 2020 by Dean Garcia, the Black Student Advocacy Group was created to provide a space for Black students to share their experience in dental school with UFCD administration. Since then, BSAG and UFCD have partnered to improve the experience of all students. Due to the continuing hard work and partnership between BSAG and UFCD, the DMD Class of 2025 had the largest population of Black students in UFCD history, and this trend was repeated in the DMD Class of 2026.
If you are a current UFCD student interested in BSAG, please contact Anna Kvam in the Office of Student Advocacy & Inclusion for more information. All UFCD students are eligible to join.
