Gators Share Fare
Fighting Food Insecurity for UFCD Students & Residents
Each year, numerous UFCD Students and Residents suffer from food insecurity. The Gators Share Fare program is dedicated to reducing this burden on our student population.
Unsure what food insecurity looks like? A person experiences food insecurity when they can’t access food in either the amount or nutritional quality that meets their needs. This could look like:
- Being distracted in clinic because they had to skip meals
- Avoiding exercising because they didn’t eat enough
- Forgoing fresh vegetables for ramen due to cost
- Extreme budgeting during lapses in financial aid or due to low income
The Gators Share Fare program is designed to reduce food waste within the college while providing opportunities for students who identify as food insecure to get access to professionally prepared food directly from the college.
