Listening, Improving, Transforming Clinical and Laboratory Training
Since 2023, we have made significant changes in response to resident and alumni feedback. Residents are trained in traditional and digital workflows within a modernized learning environment.
Renovated clinic and laboratory spaces expanded digital technology, and the addition of two laboratory technicians have strengthened the resident experience and elevated the quality, efficiency and scope of patient care. These resources allow residents to treatment plan, design, mill, print, and process prostheses within the program, supporting a more efficient and comprehensive educational experience. This has improved our turnaround time and increased the amount of in-house laboratory work to almost 100%.
Current Program Highlights
Redesigned Curriculum
Our curriculum redesign provides a stronger didactic foundation, deeper evidence-based training, and enhanced preparation for board certification and specialty practice.
New and expanded courses include Classic Complete Denture Literature Review, Treatment Planning and Case Presentation Seminar, Current Literature Review, Dental Materials, Fixed Prosthodontics, Occlusion, Removable Partial Denture Prosthodontics, Wound Healing, and semester-based mock board examinations. These experiences reinforce core prosthodontic knowledge and helps residents apply literature, diagnosis, treatment planning, and decision-making on complex patient care.
Board preparation is a central component of the program. Residents participate in structured mock board scenarios, clinical vignettes and the National Prosthodontic Resident Exam. Since 2022, three residents achieved Diplomate status, with remaining eligible residents currently progressing through the certification process.
We expanded scholarly activity and research opportunities in fixed prosthodontics, implant dentistry, digital prosthodontics, complete dentures, intraoral scanning, surgical guide, and prosthesis fabrication. Resident research has contributed to publications, interinstitutional collaborations, and awards at national and international meetings.
Through these and other curricular advances, the program is preparing graduates who are clinically skilled, evidence-based, digitally competent, research-engaged, and ready to lead the future of prosthodontics.

In December 2025, UF announced a historic landmark renovation and expansion of the UF College of Dentistry facility in Gainesville. This project will create a new gateway to the University of Florida and its Academic Health Center. This project is set to add more than 100,000 square feet of state-of-the-art space for teaching, research and patient care at Florida’s only public dental school. Included is new space for the Prosthodontics Resident Clinic. The renovation and expansion of the Dental Science Building represents more than an upgrade in space—it reflects our commitment to the people who learn, teach and provide care as well as our commitment to our patients. These improvements will modernize our clinical operatories and integrate advanced technologies into every aspect of our program.
