Research in oral and maxillofacial diagnostic sciences takes on many different forms and facets within each division: oral medicine, pathology and radiology. The department also boasts the Center for Orphaned Autoimmune Disorders, or COAD, under Dr. Suenghee Cha.

Established in 1992, this multidisciplinary center provides patient care and clinical research protocols for oral manifestations of autoimmune diseases such as Sjögren’s disease, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Systemic Sclerosis and Rheumatoid Arthritis.

UFCD's radiology residents completed the Overjet Dental AI Training Education Program in December 2022.
