Division of Oral Radiology

The Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology Service offers a variety of radiographic and consultative services to practitioners. Dictated reports including findings, diagnostic impressions, and pertinent comments are returned to the referring practitioner for all procedures performed and for films submitted for review.

Procedures and Services Available

  • Routine conventional digital and plain film radiography of teeth and facial bones
  • Cone beam Computed Tomography (CBCT), medical multidetector CT (MDCT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) including but not limited to paranasal sinus evaluation, pre-surgical and post-surgical dental implant evaluations, odontogenic and non-odontogenic pathoses, traumatic and developmental craniofacial abnormalities, obstructive sleep apnea, orthodontic and orthognathic issues, temporomandibular joint pathoses, etc.
  • Consultation on digital radiographic equipment purchase, including CBCT, and issues related to use and radiation hygiene
  • Consultation on all types of studies available through our teleradiology service (see below)
  • In-office training can be provided as needed for cone beam CT
  • Continuing education courses on various topics related to radiology and clerkship opportunities in CBCT are available

Also available are magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography, including three-dimensional reconstructions of temporomandibular joints, odontogenic or non-odontogenic pathoses, traumatic and developmental craniofacial abnormalities. On a consultative basis, evaluations of office radiographic quality assurance programs (technique, darkroom processing, etc.) and radiation hygiene practices can be performed.


Interpretation Service for Cone Beam CT Studies and Other Radiographs

We provide formal interpretation reports for all types of imaging studies of the oral and maxillofacial region, including cone beam CTs and conventional planar images. Three board certified oral and maxillofacial radiologists are available for consults.

Imaging studies may be uploaded through our secure portal to the university’s server, and consult forms may be emailed or faxed to our practice. A detailed instruction guide is available in the links below.

IAC accreditation

The Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) utilizes a rigorous clinical peer-review process to ensure that quality and safe practices are established for improved patient outcomes.
