Dr. Karaiskou joined UFCD's faculty this spring and is a visiting clinical assistant professor in the Department of Periodontology.

The Volpe Award was established by the AAP in 2013 to address the retention of top periodontal basic science researchers and educators early in their careers.

In addition to providing patient care in the college’s faculty practice, Schey teaches periodontology residents and predoctoral students with an emphasis on periodontal education.

Each month, Gator Dentists Dr. Alan Fetner and his wife, Dr. Mary Hartigan, travel from Jacksonville to work alongside residents and predoctoral students in UFCD's periodontology and prosthodontics center.
