Canvas – Learning Management System
Canvas is UF’s cloud-based learning management system (LMS) used to deliver course content, manage assignments, communicate with students, and support online learning activities. Training resources and documentation are available to assist faculty in course development and management.

Classroom Polling & Student Engagement Tools
Instructional Support provides guidance on classroom polling and engagement tools that promote active learning and real-time student feedback.
- iClicker – A classroom response system that allows faculty to conduct polls, quizzes, and attendance activities using student devices. iClicker integrates with Canvas and supports both in-person and active learning environments.
Mediasite – Lecture Capture & Streaming
UF College of Dentistry uses Mediasite to record and distribute classroom lectures. These lectures can be viewed by students anytime on computers or mobile devices through Canvas.

ExamSoft – Secure Testing
ExamSoft provides a secure testing platform that supports high-stakes assessments using Examplify. The system allows exams to be delivered securely, including offline testing environments.

Student Computer Resources
Students are required to have a laptop (not an iPad or iPad hybrid) for the duration of dental school. They are also required to have a well-fitting, functioning privacy screen appropriate for that laptop when you are taking examinations. The Office of Academic Affairs recommends the “Gold Privacy Filter.”
Students are also required to have Whole Disk Encryption for their laptops and keep this encryption enabled as long as they are enrolled and connected to any UF resources.
