Standing Committee Charge
Representatives to the Faculty Senate are elected through the process established by the Senate Office. Senators from the college are responsible for attending Faculty Senate meetings, obtaining input from college constituents on important issues considered by the Faculty Senate, meeting at least bi-annually as a group to discuss relevant issues, and providing reports at Faculty Assembly meetings.
Individual Faculty Member Responsibilities
University Senators are expected to attend all meetings of the Faculty Senate, which are held monthly from 3:00–5:00 p.m. (usually on the 3rd Thursday of the month). Unexcused absences at 50% or more of these meetings result in dismissal from the Senate. Senators from the college are expected to meet as a group at least twice per year as well as provide reports on Senate activities at each Faculty Assembly meeting; a meeting of UFCD Senators usually takes place at the Orange & Brew at the Reitz Union immediately after each UF Faculty Senate meeting.
Time commitment: Approximately 2 hours per month for Senate meetings and an additional total of 2-4 hours per year for internal meetings and presentations to the Assembly.
