Curriculum Committee

Committee Composition

This committee consists of seven faculty members elected by the Faculty Assembly, the Basic Science coordinator, the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, one student from each of the second, third-, and fourth-year classes (alternates may also be selected). The Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, Director of Curriculum and Instruction and a member of the library faculty selected by the Health Science Center library serve as ex officio, non-voting members.

Standing Committee Charge

It is the responsibility of this committee to evaluate, revise, and recommend policies to implement the pre-doctoral curriculum. This includes, but is not limited to, recommendations concerning entry requirements, and curriculum content.

Individual Faculty Member Responsibilities

The Curriculum Committee meets once a month on the third Thursday of the month from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm unless otherwise specified. Committee members are also expected to participate in any annual retreats of the Curriculum Committee or joint meetings with other standing committees. Work required outside of the meeting varies but includes review of course syllabi, course proposals, curriculum review, etc. Time commitment: minimum of four hours per month for meetings along with one retreat per year. Preparation time for meetings will vary.

Timeline for Revision Proposals

The Office of Education faculty and staff are available to assist you. They can also advise if the changes you are planning will require the University Curriculum Committee, Registrar and/or State University System approval.

Academic Program Approval is Required for:

• Student contact hours (increasing or decreasing >2hrs)
• Course grading
• Changing competency assessments
• Moving courses or course content
• Terminating courses
• Requesting new courses (core courses and electives)
