Danielle Freburg-Hoffmeister, D.D.S., M.D., clinical associate professor, was appointed associate chair of the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, or OMFS, effective April 10, 2026.

“Throughout her time at UFCD — first as a resident and now as faculty– Dr. Freburg-Hoffmeister has distinguished herself as an outstanding educator, a compassionate and highly skilled clinician, and a natural leader within the OMFS program. In her new role as associate chair, she will work closely with Dr. Frank Dolwick, department chair, in advancing the department’s missions of education, research and patient care,” said Dean A. Isabel Garcia, D.D.S., M.P.H.

Freburg-Hoffmeister earned her dental degree from the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry in Omaha and subsequently attended the University of Florida College of Medicine where she received her medical degree in 2014. She then joined the UF College of Dentistry as a resident in OMFS, completed the program in 2017, and joined the faculty—first as a visiting clinical assistant professor and later as a clinical assistant professor.

She was promoted to clinical associate professor in July 2024. In April 2025, Freburg-Hoffmeister was selected as one of five UFCD faculty members appointed as site visitors for the Commission on Dental Accreditation. Most recently, she was invited to serve as an examiner for the 2027 oral certifying exam by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial  Surgery.  She has also served as an exam writer for the board’s written examinations and resident in-service exams for the past two years and will continue to serve in that role.

“I am grateful that Dr. Freburg-Hoffmeister is willing to step into this important leadership role, and I am confident she will play a key part in the continued growth and excellence of our Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Department. Notably, the department will celebrate its 50th Anniversary this summer – more exciting news to come,” Garcia said.
