The UF College of Dentistry is pleased to announce that The Miami Foundation has awarded a $60,000, two-year grant to the UF Health Hialeah Dental Center. Since 1967, The Miami Foundation has invested over $772 million to fortify the community in partnership with more than 1,000 fundholders and 50,000 donors. Through their generosity, funding will address critical structural issues in our aging facility, technology to enhance care for special needs and aging patients, and scaling programs at UF Health Hialeah Dental Center.
Opened in 1997, UF Hialeah Dental Center is home to an Advanced Education in General Dentistry, or AEGD, program and provides care to thousands of South Florida residents of all ages. Twenty-four AEGD dental residents provide dental care for thousands of patients in the Greater Miami community each year. Services include:
- Diagnostic and preventive care
- Emergency dentistry
- Endodontics (root canals)
- Implant dentistry
- Orthodontics (braces and invisalign)
- Periodontics (gum disease treatment)
- Pediatric dentistry (children’s dental care)
- Prosthodontics (fixed and removable)
- Restorative dentistry
- Preventative dentistry
UF dental residents provide dental care under the supervision of expert UF full time, part time and volunteer faculty.
We look forward to partnering with the foundation over the next two years to build a stronger, more equitable Greater Miami.
