Delgado Receives 2025 ASDA Advocate Award

Congratulations to Alex J. Delgado, D.D.S., M.S., who received the 2025 ASDA Advocate Award from the National American Student Dental Association, or ASDA, Board of Trustees for his commitment to dental students’ involvement in ASDA and organized dentistry.

Delgado, center in a black polo shirt, received his ASDA award at the UF St. Petersburg Dental Center from Dr. Grace Ishak, ASDA past president, and Dr. Sydney Perillo, ASDA past vice president. Delgado was the at the center teaching St. Petersburg residents a course: Smile Design and Mastering Porcelain Veneers.

Delgado, a clinical associate professor in the UF College of Dentistry Department of Restorative Dental Sciences Division of Operative Dentistry, has served as the UFCD ASDA advisor for over a decade, demonstrating unwavering support for student involvement in organized dentistry. 

“His advocacy has been instrumental in ensuring that we maintain a strong presence at the state and national levels. he works closely with the executive board each year to coordinate the chapter’s calendar, ensuring there are no scheduling conflicts and maximizing student and faculty participation in ASDA events,” said Brooke Cary, a member of the UF DMD Class of 2026 and the current development director for ASDA’s District 5.

Delgado, who joined UF in 2014, is the director of UFCD Continuing Dental Education and, in 2016 and again in 2019, students voted him the Clinical Sciences Teacher of the Year. In 2019 he received the Rising Star Faculty award from the Academy of Operative Dentistry.
