Guelmann Serving as ABPD President

Photo of Marcio GuelmannCongratulations to Marcio Guelmann, D.D.S., who began serving as the president of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, or ABPD, for a one-year term, beginning on June 1, 2023. The ABPD Board of Directors are responsible for the direction of the organization.

Guelmann, a professor of pediatric dentistry, joined the UF College of Dentistry in August 1999 and has served as department chair of pediatric dentistry since 2004. Guelmann earned his dental degree in 1984 from the Federal University of Parana in Brazil and then completed a residency in pediatric dentistry at the Hadassah Faculty of Dental Medicine-Hebrew University, in Jerusalem, Israel. While in Israel, Guelmann was in private practice and part-time academics for 10 years and served as president of the Israeli Society of Pediatric Dentistry from 1995 to 1998.

He is a Fellow of the ADEA Leadership Institute, Fellow of the American College of Dentists, a consultant and site-visitor for the Commission on Dental Accreditation and served as executive director for the Florida Academy of Pediatric Dentistry from 2017 to 2019. He is the author and co-author of over 50 manuscripts and book chapters and serves as reviewer for national and international pediatric dental journals. He became a Diplomate of the ABPD in 2006 and was inducted as a member of their board of directors in 2019.
