Congratulations to Jaana Gold, D.D.S., Ph.D., M.P.D., C.P.H., who was recently honored for earning Diplomate status with the American Board of Dental Public Health, or ABDPH, during the National Oral Health Conference, or NOHC, in Orlando. Gold was one of just 12 new NOHC Diplomates who earned certification in 2022, joining 174 others.
Dental public health is the science and art of preventing and controlling dental diseases and promoting dental health through organized community efforts.
Gold is an associate professor in the UF Department of Community Dentistry & Behavioral Science. She teaches courses in dental public health for dental students and is the director of external rotations for dental students in their senior year and coordinates their schedule and is a liaison between UFCD and partnership clinics in the UF Statewide Network for Community Oral Health.
Dental public health is one of the dental specialties recognized by the American Dental Association. Certification is given to those who demonstrate that they have the education, specialized knowledge, and skills to earn board certification. It also demonstrates their commitment to the field through continuing education focused on emerging and established dental public health issues.
