Cynthia Savioli, D.D.S., Ph.D., a 2019 graduate of the UF College of Dentistry’s Hialeah Advanced Education in General Dentistry, or AEGD, program, joined the college’s faculty at the UF Health Hialeah Dental Center in February as a clinical assistant professor.

Savioli has spent the last four years in private practice, including the last two at pediatric dental centers. Her focus in Hialeah will primarily be clinical and didactic instruction as a team leader for UFCD’s AEGD residents. She’ll focus on patient-care management, leading seminars, case presentation and oversight of student care delivery for patients.

Savioli earned her dental degree from Universidade Cidade de São Paulo in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1997, and both her master’s degree in experimental physiopathology and Ph.D. in neurology from the University of São Paulo in 2005 and 2010, respectively. She boasts specializations in orofacial pain and temporomandibular disorders, dentistry for special needs patients and is certified as a sleep apnea-qualified dentist from the American Academy of Dental Sleep Apnea.

Before coming to the United States for her AEGD, Savioli worked in private practice and served the Military Police of State of São Paulo for a decade as lieutenant dentist treating patients from the police force. She was an assistant professor at the Hospital das Clínicas in São Paulo where she focused on both clinical and didactic training of both junior and senior residents, provided patient care and conducted research on orofacial pain and the relationship between oral and rheumatologic diseases.

Right in line with UFCD’s service mission, Savioli additionally volunteered as the Director of Healthy Athletes Program for Special Olympics Brazil for over a decade from 2005 to 2013.
