Ukraine: A Message to our College Community

Dean A. Isabel Garcia, UF College of Dentistry

From Dean Isabel Garcia:

The terrible developments in Ukraine for the past week have affected us all, especially those members of our college who have close ties to the region. Our college community includes people from across the world including some from Ukraine who have family and loved ones who are directly affected. For them, this is a deeply traumatic and difficult time.

If you or anyone you know in the UFCD community needs support, please know we are here to help. The UF Student Counseling & Wellness Center is prepared to support students who need assistance navigating this crisis. Faculty and staff who need support should contact the UF Employee Assistance Program.

Century Tower in yellow and blue lights
“For Ukraine. For peace.”
On the evening of March 2, 2022, UF’s Century Tower glowed yellow and blue for the first time in history as a show of support for the people of Ukraine.

As we continue to watch this war unfold, remember that while it may seem like it is a world away, we are part of a global community and there are people within our arm’s reach who are also personally suffering. Treat one another with kindness, compassion and grace every day, as we hope for peace and a swift end to this conflict.
