Astrid Daher, D.D.S., joined the UF College of Dentistry on August 2 as a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Restorative Dental Sciences Division of General Dentistry. Daher is teaching dental students in the clinical setting, and aiding with treatment planning, operative, fixed and removable prosthodontics. Daher is also providing patient care in UF Health Dentistry’s Faculty Practice in Gainesville.
A native of Ecuador, Daher joins UFCD after spending four years in New York where she completed an advanced education in general dentistry program at the University of Rochester Eastman Institute for Oral Health from 2017 to 2019, followed by her general practice residency with the BronxCare Healthy System in Bronx, New York, the past two years where she was chief resident her final year.
Daher earned her dental degree from the University of Guayaquil in Ecuador in 2008, and then completed a one-year specialist program in pediatric dentistry at El Salvador University in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
For the next seven years, Daher served as a pediatric dentist in both the public and private health care sectors in Guayaquil, while simultaneously teaching pediatric dentistry as a professor at both the University of Guayaquil and Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil from 2010 to 2017 before making her way to the U.S.
Daher is a member of the American Dental Association and is a Fellow of both the Ecuador Association of Pediatric Dentistry and the Guayaquil Association of Pediatric Dentistry.
