Panagiotis Zoidis, D.D.S., M.S., Ph.D., was appointed associate dean for clinical affairs and quality assurance effective May 3, 2021, by Dean Isabel Garcia. Zoidis takes the helm from Cesar Migliorati, D.D.S., M.S., Ph.D., who announced in November 2020 that he would be stepping down from the associate dean position.
During his four years as associate dean, Migliorati made important and lasting contributions to UFCD and the broader community. He brought with him a wealth of experience and insights, and applied a data-driven approach to make meaningful enhancements to UFCD patient care, safety and quality. Under his leadership and with great support from his team, the college reorganized its clinical administration to improve workflow and efficiency. Migliorati will continue in his role as a professor in oral & maxillofacial diagnostic sciences and devote more time to teaching, patient care and scholarly activities.
“I want to thank the search committee for their efforts as well as everyone who participated in the interview and selection process. I am looking forward to having Dr. Zoidis join our leadership team,” Garcia said.
As associate dean for clinical affairs and quality assurance, Zoidis will be responsible for the college’s overall clinical operations and patient care activities, working in close collaboration with all departments and programs. He will provide leadership, strategic direction, oversight and management for the college in areas related to the clinical pre-doctoral, clinical residency and faculty practice programs, as well as ensuring compliance with accreditation and quality assurance standards, and federal and state healthcare and safety regulations.
Zoidis joined the college in April 2017 as a clinical associate professor in the UF Department of Restorative Dental Sciences, Division of Prosthodontics. In November 2018, he was appointed interim division director of prosthodontics, followed by a permanent appointment.
Zoidis was born in Athens, Greece. In 1992, he earned his dental degree from the Dental School of Athens National and Kapodistrian University and, in 2009, his doctoral degree in biomaterials. In 1996 he earned his certificate in prosthodontics and his master’s in oral biology from the Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia.
He served in the Greek Navy as a prosthodontist from 1996 to 1998. His academic experience includes serving on faculty of the Dental School of Athens National and Kapodistrian University from 1996 through 2017. He has lectured extensively, has a diverse research background and he has a clinical focus on full mouth reconstructions, fixed and removable prosthodontics, implants, and treatment of temporomandibular disorder, or TMD.
