Nascimento Appointed DCRU Program Director

Photo of Marcelle NascimentoCongratulations to Marcelle Nascimento, D.D.S., M.S., Ph.D., who was appointed the program director of the Dental Clinical Research Unit, or DCRU, in August.

As program director of the DCRU, Nascimento, an associate professor in the UF Department of Restorative Dental Sciences, is responsible for the overall management of the DCRU and will assist colleagues in the college with developing clinical research protocols and preparing Institutional Review Board, or IRB, applications. In addition to other duties, she will focus on ensuring dentistry clinical research projects are compliant with regulations and protocols relating to privacy and IRB, in addition to other areas of compliance.

Nascimento joined the college in 2005 as a post-doctoral associate in oral biology. She became an adjunct clinical assistant professor in 2006, an assistant professor in 2007 and was promoted to associate professor with tenure in 2015. In April 2019, she received a 2019 UF Research Professorship Award from the UF Office of Research in recognition of her distinguished current record of research, particularly in the area of cariology.
