Welcoming New Faculty: Mateus Garcia Rocha

Dr. RochaOn August 5, Mateus Garcia Rocha, D.D.S., M.S., Ph.D., joined the UF College of Dentistry as a clinical assistant professor in the department of restorative dentistry’s operative division after spending time at the college as a visiting scholar since 2018.

Rocha’s primary focus is educating predoctoral students and advanced education residents in dental biomaterials, which is one of his areas of expertise. He is also providing patient care in the college’s Faculty Dental Practice and pursuing his research in dental biomaterials.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Rocha earned his dental degree in 2013 from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 2013; completed an internship in biomaterials at the Oregon Health and Science University’s School of Dentistry in Portland, Oregon, in 2015; and earned his master’s and Ph.D. at the Piracicaba Dental School, State University of Campinas, in Sao Paolo, Brazil, in 2016 and 2019, respectively.

He is a member the Academy of Dental Materials.
