Welcoming New Faculty: Diego M. Ardenghi

ArdenghiDiego M. Ardenghi, D.D.S., M.A., M.Sc., joined the UF department of restorative dental sciences as the division director of prosthodontics on June 3, 2019. He moved to Florida from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, where he was an assistant professor and most recently served as the acting associate dean academic at the University of Saskatchewan College of Dentistry.

Ardenghi’s UF administrative duties include overall leadership for faculty and staff in the division, overseeing the curriculum, facilitating professional development for prosthodontics faculty members, and working closely with departmental leadership to ensure successful inter-departmental and interdisciplinary collaborations. He also teaches and mentors predoctoral and graduate students in the preclinical and clinical areas, and provides prosthodontic patient care in the UF Health Dental Faculty Practice.

He will also continue to pursue his research interests in the areas of dental education and qualitative research; teaching methodologies and student learning; access to oral health care; and dental materials including veneers and CAD/CAM dentistry.

Ardenghi earned his dental degree in 2003 from the Federal University of Santa Maria, in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. In 2006, he earned a masters of arts in curriculum studies from the University of Victoria, in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, and a masters in craniofacial sciences with a clinical specialization in prosthodontics from the University of British Columbia, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, in 2014. Ardenghi is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada where he is board certified in prosthodontics. Before joining the faculty of the University of Saskatchewan, he was a clinical assistant professor at the University of California in San Francisco, California.
