Welcoming New Faculty: Satoko Matsumura

Matsumura_Satoko photoIn January 2018, Satoko Matsumura, D.D.S., Ph.D., joined the University of Florida Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Diagnostic Sciences Division of Radiology as a clinical assistant professor.

Matsumura’s time will be balanced between teaching predoctoral students and residents in radiology graduate education, and providing diagnostic readings for internal and external patient cases.

In 1993, Matsumura earned her dental degree from the Hiroshima University School of Dentistry in Hiroshima, Japan. She went on to earn a doctorate in radiation oncology from the Osaka University School of Dentistry in Osaka, Japan, in 1997. She completed a master’s in forensic science in 2011 at Pace University in New York, and earned her master’s in dental science from the University of Connecticut in 2017.

During her career, she has worked in research, clinical care and in academia, including at the New York University College of Dentistry where she spent three years in the Department of Basic Science and Craniofacial Biology as an associate research scientist. Prior to joining UF, she served on faculty at the University of Connecticut in oral radiology.
