Football and friends

What apple pie is to baseball, friends are to football – they just go together! On Saturday, September 10, the UF President’s box took on an early Homecoming spirit as two Gator Dentists traveled to Gainesville to watch the Florida Gators take on the University of Alabama Birmingham Blazers as guests of University of Florida President Bernie Machen.

Mark Holmes, D.M.D., class of 2001, and Lance Karp, D.M.D., Class of 2000, have been close friends since meeting in dental school.

Holmes lives in St. Petersburg, Fla., and is the founder and director of The Dental Walk-In Clinic of Tampa Bay and Pinellas, as well as a clinical assistant professor at the college. Since establishing his practice in 2002, he has treated thousands of dental emergencies, including traumas, while embracing new technology to perfect the delivery of state-of-the-art dentistry. Holmes, a proponent of continuing education, also recently completed hundreds of hours of continuing education in multiple disciplines of dentistry.

Holmes is recently engaged and enjoys traveling with his fiancée, Heather Barth, who is a pilot for Delta Airlines.

Karp, a native of New York City, lives in Sarasota, Fla. He and his wife, Lisa Klein, D.M.D., have one daughter. Karp practices locally in Sarasota with fellow college alumnus Douglas Fabiani, D.M.D. Karp, also believes in continuing education and is a fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry.
