Congratulations to Tim Garvey, D.M.D., a clinical assistant professor in the department of pediatric dentistry, who is the deserving recipient of the Florida Dental Health Foundation’s 2010 Humanitarian Award and the 2010 Dr. E. A. Cosby Community Service Award from the Alachua County Dental Society for his outstanding service to the community.
The Florida Dental Health Foundation award, in accordance with tradition, was officially presented during the Florida Dental Association’s first session of the House of Delegates meeting during the Florida National Dental Congress in Orlando in June. Garvey received the award plus a $1,000 contribution to the charity of his choice in recognition of his unending dedication to serving needy populations in Florida and in other countries.
“Those of us who have the honor of working with him are often humbled by his unwavering commitment to serving patients who otherwise wouldn’t have access to dental care. He doesn’t serve for fanfare or public recognition; he truly serves from his heart. We are very proud that he received these awards for his service on the local and state levels,” said Teresa A. Dolan, D.D.S., M.P.H., professor and dean of the college.
