Dr. Marc Heft addresses the AADR assembly after having received the chain of office from outgoing president E. Dianne Rekow during the associations annual meeting held in March. The chain of office consists of an large, decorative medallion flanked by smaller plates inscribed with the names of past AADR presidents.

Marc W. Heft, D.M.D., Ph.D., a professor of oral and maxillofacial surgery with joint appointments as professor of neuroscience and professor of clinical & health psychology, is president of the American Association for Dental Research. Heft will serve as the 36th president of the AADR during his 2007-2008 term, which began at the conclusion of the March AADR annual meeting held in New Orleans, La. As AADR president, Hefts responsibilities include representing the AADR at national meetings, presiding over board and council meetings, establishing task forces on issues of interest to the AADR, and promoting the mission of the association.

Scott L. Tomar, D.M.D., M.P.H., Dr. P.H., has been elected as the AADR representative to the International Association for Dental Research/AADR Publications Committee. Members of the IADR/AADR Publications Committee analyze and make recommendations to the editors and the executive director regarding the Journal of Dental Research, Critical Reviews in Oral Biology, and all other official publications of the IADR or AADR.
