COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Health care in the USA is about to undergo a revolution and dentistry will be involved in these changes. The emergence of denturists and dental therapists are not isolated events but part of the coming change of health care delivery. This course will describe the current problems of health care delivery in the USA with the likely impact for the general dentist.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

At conclusion, participants should be able to:

1. Have a better understanding of health and the role of health care systems
2. Have a better understanding of the new roles of people and health professionals in health and health care
3. Consider the new role that dentists may play in oral health care and the possible changes in daily work practices

FACULTY:

• Douglas Benn BDS, M.Phil, PhD, DDR is a Professor Emeritus of the University of Florida College of Dentistry. He trained as a dentist in London, England and has a PhD from the Department of Dental Public Health and General Practice, University College London Dental School. Among his research areas have been the development of new diagnostic methods for caries and the periodontal diseases. He also trained as a Maxillofacial Radiologist at the Royal College of Radiologists, London. In 2003 he won first prize in the O'Connor national competition to redesign the US health care system.

Continuing Dental Education reserves the right to modify or cancel a course when circumstances warrant. Dates, course content or faculty will be changed only when unavoidable. If a course is already full when registrations are received, or if the course has been canceled, applicants will be notified and full refund will be processed. Continuing Dental Education cannot be responsible for non-refundable airfares or other expenses in the event of a course cancellation.

Refunds: Unless otherwise specified, full refunds will be mailed to registrants who cancel their registration no later than 21 days before the course starting date. Cancellations by telephone are acceptable; however, a written request must be received by our office before a refund may be processed. Refunds, less $250 for course and hotel cancellation, will be processed for registrants who cancel less than 21 days before the course starting date. Refunds cannot be given for cancellations on or after the course starting date.
