COURSE DESCRIPTION:

While the Florida Board requires 30 hours of CEU for dentists and 24 hours of CEU for hygienists every biennium in order to renew your Florida license, there are certain specific courses that the state requires for relicensure. This one-day seminar is designed to satisfy those requirements.

HIV/Aids (2 CEU) and infectious diseases pertinent to the practice of dentistry and dental hygiene, including viral counts, hepatitis, sterilization and infection control requirements, identification of oral lesions associated with infectious disease, how the presence of infectious disease directly affects treatment decisions of dentists, and the subject areas set forth under Section 456.033, F.S.

Domestic Violence (2 CEU) as required by Section 456.031, F.S., and described in subsection 64B5 12.019(8), F.A.C., including information on the numbers of patients likely to be victims and/or predators in a professional's practice, screening procedures for determining if a patient may have a history of being a victim or predator of domestic violence, and instruction on how to provide patients with information on resources in the local community to help victims of domestic violence.

Prevention of Medical Errors (2 CEU) shall include a study of root cause analysis, error reduction and prevention, and patient safety.

Laws, Rules, and Ethics (2 CEU), including professional responsibility and competence; legal standards; confidentiality; professional relationships; recordkeeping; common malpractice complaints; commonly reported violations reported to the Department; and relevant case studies.

To satisfy the state mandated course requirements for dentist and dental hygiene relicensure in a one-day seminar.
