Prerequisites

The following courses are required for enrollment in the University of Florida College of Dentistry.

Please note: All prerequisites must be completed with a letter grade of “C” or better (no Pass/Fail credits allowed).

Physical Sciences

  • General, inorganic chemistry: 8 semester hours (12 quarter hours)
  • Organic chemistry: 8 semester hours (12 quarter hours)
  • Physics: 8 semester hours (12 quarter hours)

Biomedical Sciences

  • Biology: 8 semester hours (12 quarter hours)
  • Biochemistry*: 4 semester hours (6 quarter hours)
  • Microbiology*: 4 semester hours (6 quarter hours)
  • Molecular Biology or a genetics course emphasizing molecular biology*: 4 semester hours (6 quarter hours)

Communications

  • English Grammar and Composition: 6-8 semester hours (8-12 quarter hours)

Behavioral Social Sciences

  • General Psychology 3-4 semester hours (5-6 quarter hours)
