Emeritus Faculty

Consideration for Emeritus Status

If a faculty member would like to be considered for emeritus status they must notify their chair and provide their CV. A vote of all departmental faculty is required. Following the faculty vote, a written request must be submitted for review and approval by the College Promotion and Tenure Advisory Committee, Dean, the Senior Vice President for Health Affairs, and the University of Florida Provost. The letter should indicate that the faculty departmental vote. Please note the #Yes / #No / #Abstained.

Emeritus Benefits

Emeritus faculty will continue to have campus courtesies such as parking, use of the library and recreation facilities, admission to athletics and cultural events, receipt of such publications as are sent to regular faculty members and members of the Alumni Association, and participation in academic convocations.

Reemployment Rules Regarding Retirement

Once a faculty member retirees, an exception must be requested for any rehire action to occur. More information can be found at this link.
