Rotary Endodontics:
Your Pathway to Faster and More Predictable Results
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Effective endodontic treatment removes pulpal remnants,
bacteria and debris from the canal system both mechanically
and chemically (through irrigation). Instrumentation to
the correct length (Working Length) and apical preparation
to the correct size (Working Width) is critical for obtaining
the best possible canal cleanliness. Excessive dentin
removal--especially in the coronal third where masticatory
stresses are greatest--must be avoided. To ensure long-term
success, effective obturation and restoration is essential to
prevent recontamination of the canal.
LECTURE SYNOPSIS:
The main objective is to discuss the
requirements for achieving predictable outcomes and
show how this can be done quickly and efficiently.
Popular endodontic myths are exposed. There will be a
review of canal anatomy (including the unseen 3rd
dimension) and techniques given to avoid ledges, zips,
perforations, blockages, canal straightening and over and
under-preparations. Research involving a new obturation
material will also be discussed.
HANDS-ON SESSION:
Participants will be given step-by-step
instructions by an experienced clinician on how to use the
LightSpeed "LSX instrumentation and SimpliFill" obturation
systems and the EndoVac System. The EndoVac System presents the most important
evolution in endodontic irrigation technology. This patent pending
system enables safe irrigation to the apical termination with an
abundance of fresh and continuous irrigation solutions. Unlike
positive pressure systems which use cannulas to deliver irrigants in
the canal, the EndoVac system is a true apical negative pressure system
that draws fluid apically by way of evacuation. Its cleaning,
disinfection and smear layer removal abilities are unparalleled,
leading to Maximum Microbial Control. Control the Microbes, Control
the Case. There will be time to practice instrumenting and
obturating both simulated canals and extracted teeth. After
completing the practice exercise, canal cross-sections will be
made to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of this course, participants will understand:
- StraightLine Access: What it means and how it's done
- Cleaning, shaping and filling in three-dimensions
- Cleaning, shaping and filling in approximately
7 minutes per canal
- Approaching more difficult cases with confidence
(and knowing when to refer)
- Achieving predictable endodontic results
- One appointment endodontics
- A new obturation material: how it's used
