Contemporary Perspectives for Successful Endodontics, Including Rotary Endodontics

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The delivery of quality and predictable endodontic treatment is becoming a reality for the contemporary dental practitioner. The technological explosion and enhanced biological understanding have supported a totally new approach to treatment and retention of teeth. This program addresses the significant advances that have enabled this achievement along with anticipated directions for future treatment modalities.

Participants will have the opportunity to experience some of the latest endodontic techniques and materials through a hands-on workshop.

REQUIRED MATERIALS:

**Participants need to bring several (6) accessed teeth to the workshop (access preparations must be made prior to the course).

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

At conclusion, the participant will be able to:

  • Understand the biological basis for treatment and how this affects success
  • Understand the different approaches for treating endodontic problems
  • Understand why endodontic failures happen and know keys to improving endodontic success
  • Recognize problems in accessing preparations that affect therapy
  • Understand the relationship between endodontics and a clean root canal system
  • Understand the use of sodium hypochlorite chlorhexidine, biopure, and antibiotic pastes in improving endodontic success
  • Understand the rationale for one- and two-visit endodontics
  • Understand the limitation of rotary instrumentation.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of the newest obturation systems
  • Understand the role of calcium hydroxide in endodontic infections
  • Have a thorough knowledge of endodontic emergency care

  • Frank Vertucci, D.M.D., Professor, Chairman, and Director of Postgraduate Endodontics at the University of Florida
  • James Haddix, D.M.D., Associate Professor and Director of Predoctoral Endodontics and the Comprehensive Dentistry Program at the University of Florida.
