Lessons in a Lunchbox

On March 13, 100 first grade students at Joseph Williams Elementary School in Alachua County enjoyed getting their “Lessons in a Lunchbox,” a program organized by the UF Student National Dental Association members Jean George, Shahd Nawari and ArNelle Wright, and UFCD Staff Member Kelly Raulerson.

The first grade students learned about proper tooth brushing techniques and proper diets to help preserve their teeth. The groups also played games and participated in activities to test the children’s knowledge and they each received a lunchbox with a toothbrush, toothpaste, rinse cup and floss.

The student organizers were joined by another 15 DMD students, all working together to bring some wonderful kids valuable Lessons in a Lunchbox.
