Guelmann Appointed Director of Special Projects and Strategic Initiatives

The University of Florida College of Dentistry announced today that Marcio Guelmann, D.D.S., professor and chair of the UF Department of Pediatric Dentistry, was appointed director of special projects and strategic initiatives, effective March 2, 2017. In this role, he will work with Dean Isabel Garcia and senior college leaders to develop and execute strategic initiatives and projects, in particular those requiring cross-disciplinary engagement across the college, UF Health Science Center, the university and external organizations. He will continue to serve as department chair.

Guelmann joined the university more than 18 years ago and has served as chair of his department since 2004 and, for the past seven months, took on added responsibilities as interim associate dean for Clinical Affairs and Quality.

“I am very grateful for Dr. Guelmann’s consistent support, guidance and commitment to our college’s mission – he has been a stalwart advocate for all of our clinical programs and has embraced challenges with enthusiasm and vigor despite a very heavy workload.  His demonstrated ability to work with and build teams, often across departments, will suit him well for this new role, which also requires an in depth understanding and commitment to our college’s mission and vision,” said A. Isabel Garcia, D.D.S., M.P.H, dean of the college.
