So you want to be a dentist?

SLP picThe University of Florida College of Dentistry is accepting applications for a three-week summer program focused on learning about the dental profession and how you can become a strong dental school applicant.

The 2013 Summer Learning Program (SLP) is a three-week pre-dental program from July 8 – 26 in Gainesville, Fla., and provides participants an overview of the dental profession through workshops, rotations through UF’s specialty dental centers, projects in the simulation laboratory, networking activities with students and alumni, and more. In addition the program helps participants strengthen their dental school applications through mock interviews, and financial aid and Dental Aptitude Test (DAT) workshops.

The program is free and scrubs, room and board are covered for all participants. The SLP targets, but is not limited to, students of educationally or economically disadvantaged backgrounds and/or of ethnic minority status.

The application deadline is March 1, 2013, and accepted participants are notified in early May. Applications and more information can be found here.
