Clay Walker, Ph.D., professor and associate dean, was accepted into the 2011-2012 University of Florida Advanced Leadership for Academics and Professionals Program (ALAP).

Participants meet six times, for one to two days each time, during this year-long program that is designed to support ongoing development for faculty and professionals in leadership positions at the university.  Emphasis is placed on exploring the UF Leadership/Management Competency structure and how it can be applied effectively to support leadership in the higher education setting.

“Clay is interested in learning more about the RCM resource allocation strategy, methods for promoting leadership and development in others, and facilitating communication among our faculty,” said Dean Teresa A. Dolan, D.D.S., M.P.H, who nominated Walker for the program.
ALAP includes 360-degree and other assessments, guest speakers, facilitated discussions, case studies, assigned readings, and activities, including group project(s). An important element of the program is access to key leaders at the university.

The program includes two tracks–one for academic leaders and another for professionals who are selected through a competitive application process.
