Luau a Smashing SuccessAt 11am Friday, August 15, the clouds parted and the sun shone down on the Dental Courtyard, decorated for the Catch the Wave Launch Luau. It was perfect timing and a good omen for the launch of the college’s new clinical model for the D.M.D. program.

Luau a Smashing SuccessWe want to thank all of the new teams for decorating their surf boards and to everyone who voted for their favorite board. And the winning board? The Salty Docs (Team Nine) who will enjoy a catered lunch for their team courtesy of Dean Teresa Dolan.

The Jawbreakers, a band of dental faculty members, entertained a crowd of about 400 staff, faculty and students of the UF College of Dentistry. Attendees enjoyed a catered barbeque, photo opportunities, volleyball and a gentle breeze blowing from the gulf.

The band’s packed up, the leis are stowed away, and leftover food’s being delivered to St. Francis House. And, most importantly, fun was had by all.

Thank you to everyone who played a part in making this event, and the new clinical model, a success.
