Dr. Enrique Bimstein, pediatric dentistry, coordinated a group of UF College of Dentistry students who volunteered their time to perform free dental screenings and educate athletes on dental care for Special Olympics athletes in during the Florida Summer Games in Orlando.

Special Smiles® is part of a program initiated by the Special Olympics in 1996 called “Healthy Athletes.” Healthy Athletes includes Special Smiles, Healthy Hearing, Opening Eyes, Fit Feet and other medically-based programs that provide screenings and education for Special Olympics athletes, many of whom have limited access to health care.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered for this event and helped share some healthy smiles around at the state games.
