Everyone Enjoyed 2008 Research Day

Everyone Enjoyed 2008 Research DayPosters, presentations, lectures, awards and camaraderie marked the Sixth Annual College of Dentistry Research Day on March 28, 2008.

The day’s highlights included research presentations from 22 DMD students, 15 MS/residents, 16 PhD/postdoctoral trainees, and nine faculty, staff, and undergraduate students that showcased the scientific accomplishments of the College of Dentistry during the past year.

Because of the increasing difficulty of recruiting faculty in dental schools within the U.S., early training in research and other scholarly activity provides a critical foundation for our students as they build toward productive future dental practice and, hopefully, academic careers.

Other highlights were the participation of graduate students, residents, and postdoctoral scientists, the keynote presentations by Dr. John Glenn Morris and Dr. Richard B. Dickinson, and poster presentations by several faculty members, staff, and undergraduate students. Overall the day provided a valuable opportunity for interactions among people at all academic levels.

Research Day wrapped up with award presentations to the following students:

Second Place (tie) – Jessica L. Wiedey
